I'm told by the Rad. repair shop that the fan keeps spinning (about 10 revolutions) afterthe engine is turned off. He recons that it should only spinn about 3 revolutions and needs replacing. My question is:1. Can it be repaired and if so how?2. Can it be replaced with a better new improved model?3. How are they rated i.e. temp cut in/cut off.

At the moment I have a spare fan and clutch out of a Skyline GTR (bolted straight on) . The clutch out of the Q has a RED spot painted on it and the GTR has a BLUE spot painted on it. I can only guess that this is some sort of Code as to the temp setting.

As the fan blades are cracked I'll be getting a new one, and don't have a problem buying a new clutch.........just wondering if ne1 has carried out a DIY on the clutch and how the thing actualy works?

Look for oil streaks or dust that has stuck to oil streaks. These are signs that the internal fluids that provide the fan clutch action is leaking. Also check for worn bearing. Grasp fan on both sides and check lateral movement . Left to right if there's more than 1/4 inch of side movement bearing is bad. To check the fan clutch run engine to normal operating temp. and shut eng. off. Spin fan with very little force (NOT LIKE WHEEL OF FORTUNE) and release if fan spins more than twice fan clutch is bad. If fan is noisy or it doesn't spin at all. Replace unit! Stick with factory unit anything else would be louder!
