Hey guys, I didnt see a tech article on removing the intake plenum. not a new task, but I decided to do a write-up anyway:
difficulty: ** (2/5)
Time: 15 - 35 mins.
Tools:
-Torque wrench-Standard s13 sockets: 8mm, 10mm, 12mm, 14mm (the usual) -A Razor or knife (if you plan on cutting the vacuum hoses)-A set of Pliers (if you plan on keeping your vacuum hoses)-tray to store your loose nuts.
and that's it, pretty standard for tools, nothing you dont already have.
Quick overview: 10 nuts, 5 vaccumm hoses, and the wire to the knock sensor
lets go.
step 1:
start by removing these 8 nuts.
step 2.
removing these 2 bolts one after the other.... they attach the plenum to its bracket. Very easy to remove once you find them.
step 3.
remove this hose
step 4.
and this one... ( now the plenum is off and were underneath.
step 5.
3 hoses left.
and you should have this... the one on the right is easy.
step 6. now get these two guys. I cut mine... if you're reinstalling, pop them by crimping the clamps with pliers.. If you want to replace these make sure to bring a sample to your parts store, so that you use the same grade.
step 7.
the last pic says it all....
we unplug the knock sensor,
dont pull on it, there's a pin that slides out.
step 8.
finished.....
the plenum comes off with fuel rail and injectors attached.. the rest is easy.
