This how to is for people who either want to completetly remove the middle brake light or just want to remove it to clean behind it.Heres what you do.

Step 1Grab the brake light on both sides and give a slight upward tug and it should pop out.(It should look like the pic below)

Step 2Grab the wire connecting the brake light to the car and push the tab in and pull apart.

Step 3Remove the light from the rear deck.

Good write up...

However, everyone please note that without this light your car techincally becomes "illegal." It is a law that you are required to have 3 braking lights on your car - so if you do this but have a rear spoiler (ie G35) that has a brake light you are ok.

If bugs fly get in there i can clean them out.

I noticed there were some spots behind my brake light, most likely condensation. Wow now i can clean it. Thank you

Thats the reason i first removed it. Because there was a giant moth back there and spots on the window. Both are now gone!!

Yeah, I removed mine a while ago and overlaid a homemade stencil for the new Batman symbol on it!

Nope...didn't turn out as well as I'd hoped... The area is too small to see any great detail and those LEDs in there are damn bright! haha

Nice write up but i did this to disconnect my third brake light when I installed my spoiler a year ago. Pretty straight forward and is explained in the FSM

I just decided to make this writeup to help those who hadn't read the FSM and didn't know how to do it....and maybe get a custom title.

3rd brake lights weren't mandated until 1986, & mostly on passenger cars.

I think the first cars to have them (and it led to them being mandated) were NYC yellow cabs . Now if you have a new or newer (made since the 1990s) car - and you don't have the light - then you are at risk.

That would be awesome especially if we got a blue coupe.
