The lip on my G is there for a purpose. This just shows that you had too much time on your hands and thought that weather stripping was just as good as ABS
I can't even venture to use that stuff for the lower (mostly unseen) air diverter on my G.
Hehe I have one sitting in my garage. It was on my car when I bought it, but I can't make it up my driveway without scraping. I'm going to be putting it back on when I move to Seattle in April.Broadfield wrote:I like the OEM Silvia lip, but it is impossible to find one.

It's fiberglass, so I can make it whatever shape I want. I would do a simple skeleton like I did in my "Fiberglass How To" in my sig. Then make a mold off of that if I want to mass produce them. It's very hard to explain the technique, but you can check out that thread to give you a little idea.Stripes wrote:How would you go about getting the shape/ mold for making a lip? Sounds like a good idea.
I though it was to divert air? not as a curb feelerReaperBJJ wrote:Seems to me with the two-sided tape it would just get ripped off the second you actually did scrape the front, defeating the purpose some use the yard edging lip for, protection.
If anyone could make an aftermarket lip look like factory....TOBY im sure by the work youve done to your car, that would be no problem for you. Plus you play with fiberglass on a regular basis so youve got the background in it for sure.Broadfield wrote:I can't even fathom letting garage door weather stripping anywhere near my car.
I think I am going to fiberglass my own.... something subtle, about a 1.5 - 2 inch lip. There are hardly any options for the Silvia bumper. I like the OEM Silvia lip, but it is impossible to find one. I am gong to make mine very similar to it, just slightly shorter.
Nice, how flexible is it? I'm looking for something like that, but that is as stiff as the fiberous plastic that the underbody trays are made of. My air diverter got tore up by the previous owner and a replacement is over 2 bills.Salem240 wrote:I still like my paver edging better
Mazda 3 guys do this also.Justin35ll wrote:No offernce but, I see all these ugly lips people are trying to make for their cars that hang down like 4 inches so I figured I'de show you guys a lip that I've made for my VW and some of my friends have made.
Not sure how it would come out on a pig or chuki, but it's worth a try.
It's like 5 bucks at home depot for the 9 foot garage door molding. Just gotta cut it to length and get some double stick tape and stick it to the bottom of the bumper.
Heres a pic of a friends car
Thats exactly what I used. Its not very flexible but since its plastic all you gotta do is add a little heat to make it more flexible . At least if I tear it up I'm out of less than $10 worth of plastic and 10min worth of time putting it on .SirSilvia wrote:diamond lok sold mostly in 6' peices inthe Lowes garden section
I wonder. This is plastic right?Salem240 wrote:I still like my paver edging better
