So, here are my goals to start with. 230-250 hp to the wheels, quick spool and very linear power delivery.

Here's what I've worked up so far:

DIY

1) S14 T28 ballbearing turbo (used)2) SSAutochrome bottom manifold w/ elbow3) 370CC injectors4) Megan Stainless Steel 3" SR downpipe5) Walbro 255lph fuel pump6) Greddy VSPL intercooler kit7) Greddy Type S BOV8) DEFI DIN Gauges9) Greddy Electronic Boost gauge10) JWT ECU or equivalent11) Oil feed and return lines, coolant lines to turbo

OR...

The Boost Designs "Stage One" kit with a T3 Super 60. I'd still have to add some stuff to the kit as Stage 2 doesn't seem like much of a deal.

http://www.boostdesigns.com/stage1.htm

I haven't heard much about the Boost Designs kit and have many questions about the BOV, intercooler, etc.

So, any comments? I'm sure I'm forgetting something.

I'm at the same situation. I looked at that site and was wondering about the manifold that's there and does anyone know about those cams?

Call them and see if they have kits ready to ship, then email them and make sure again, see if the email response is right away, and get them to insure they will ship the kit within the week of payment by UPS or some company that can be tracked.

Other then that, its a good deal. With stainless pipes and IC your sitting good.

The FMU needs to be a 8/1 if you use it. So the disk will need to be changed.

The site, in general, is lacking in a lot of detail. Not much info on the cams, lift, duration, etc. I'd like to see a little bit closer picture of the intercooler, the manifold, etc. I guess the BOV is a knock-off of a TIAL

To be quite honest, I don't want to be the guinea pig for that kit, not that I don't trust the vendor. I just don't know much about 'em. I'm going to try to find some more info if I can catch him on AIM.

This vendor is gaining more and more trust through his new partnership with http://www.ka-t.org

As for the Intercooler and so forth, There is not detailed pics of the intercooler because he just redesigned the core. It is a garrett core and has custom brackets to fit both s13's and s14's. The manifold is made by atr and new pics can be seen at http://www.boostevolution.com . The collector looks very clean and flow looks to be tremendous. I'm going to be the guinea pig by getting the manifold, downpipe, and intercooler. The man is a good guy but is really busy designing the rest of his products. He's been developing and dyno testing his new downpipe back exhaust as well as redesigning the intercooler.

The cams I do believe (atleast for boostevolution) are pdm racing cams and the specs can be found at their site.

The things you pointed out have been noted on http://www.ka-t.org and will adjusted and info on the bov is also on the site.

Hey,

If you're looking for info on BoostDesigns there is a new forum setup on the KA-T.org Forum site specifically for customer questions and concerns about them.

Here's a handy link

Cool. Thanks, guys. I was just checking out the pictures of the manifold, and I'm by no means an expert in manifold design or welding but that looks pretty damn good.

Edit: Garrett intercooler core, Vortech FMU (which I probably wouldn't use anyway) and Greddy Type S BOV coming in the future. Not bad.

The whole boostevolution/boostdesigns thing seems kind of odd, but hopefully Ryan will clear that stuff up when he meets with them.

That's what I thought. The new pictures of the manifold are awesome. I just got off the phone with boostdesigns and he's away from the shop till tomorrow doing prototype work. I just purchased that stuff though.

Do a writeup on the service, kit and install, I'll include it in the Aritcle I'm writing about available kits and all the details. Either post here or email it to me at [email protected]
