Here's a website that I find very useful. I'm in the process of improving my car's audio system. Just got done doing (sorta crappy) speaker plates to mount (sorta crappy, but way better than blown) speakers. Now I just need to install the head unit. One of the things that scared me the most was the wiring harness install. After looking through this site, I just might try to do some of the radio harness to vehicle harness wiring myself. Doesn't look too hard after reading up on it.

Don't be afraid of the wiring harness young padawan. Once you figure out that the wires for each speaker are usually the same color, just one is solid and the other stripped, it's alot easier. Power is easy too. It's usually the red or yellow wire(s). Ground is always black or green. Antenna is that thing with the metal plug, ewither one or two prongs.

Take a picture of your harness once(the one in the vehicle, not the one for your HU), and i'll help you out.

Thanks PMQ, but I already got it installed. You're right though, it isn't really that hard, hell the wires are even labeled! I was just really scared I would f*ck things up and blow a fuse on an expensive HU.

Looking at the guy's work, I could have done a lot better. He used electric tape for god's sake. I was expecting some sort of crimp-on wire connectors or some heat-shrink ones for a $50 install, but nope. At least now I know how to wire that particular HU up so its all good.

You got something against electrical tape . hehe.

I don't mind using electrical tape on the power/ground wires, but for the signal wires i'll solder them.

If you are going to solder 8 wires why not solder three more? seems lazy

I don't even mind just using wire nuts on signal wires. Nothing wrong with that either IMO
