well my friends doesnt at all. im not saying that everyone is like his...

Almost all of the cars I've seen with a hydro setup, even hardcore track cars, still have their stock ebrake for parking uses/etc
i might eventually do that if in fact it does bleed off. trust me i have already thought about it. also might entertain the idea of a brake line lock (which is also not supposed to be used as a parking brake) lol but i have also seen those hold pressure...

thank you for the ideas though.

you would probably save about 50-100 also depending on how much you get the materials for.

wow, cool down man...we've gotta stop flamming each other...
actually i am still considering whether i should keep my stock ebrake or not. but i feel it'll look ugly if i have my stock ebrake on. my car is mostly driven out for drift only, just some occasional going to class routine and have a cup of tea.

about the cost of making 1, at ur place the workmanship is expensive compared to my place (malaysia). i can get my thing done in RM200 thats just like 60usd inclusive installation. so for me its worth the hassle if i compare the cost of getting 1 off the shelve...

and lastly having sumthings fabricated and works perfectly makes my day. the satisfaction of it will last every single time u use or see it. :dblthumb:

yes it is very satisfying to make something yourself and have it be as good or better than something you can purchase.

thats kinda cool in a way that labor is cheap there. im sure on the downfall you dont get paid as well though, which kinda stinks.

I just made my 1st step in my hydraulic handbrake. purchased a DC2 clutch pump for RM50 (16usd).
gonna make the bracket for it tomorrow.

still deciding on what to use for the brake line. wonder will steel braided hose be a better choice?

the braided hose will be easier to work with. but hard line is MUCH cheaper.

what about in terms of expandability of the pipes, the hard line is certainly the better choice right?
i am thinking of buying a brake line off any car from the scrap yard and use it to plumb the brake lines...

IMO it should be a more reliable choice (factory setup uses hard line) since the whole car's braking system rely on it.

well i wouldnt go to the junk yard to get a used brake line. i dont know what your auto parts stores are like there, but in my auto parts store i can get NEW hard line for dirt cheap.

i dont know how much the stainless braided line expands. i dont think its supposed to at all actually (but you should look more into that), and thats why people use it to "upgrade" their stock brake hoses. but yes you wont get any expanding with hard line.

i think the reason people upgrade their stock brake hoses to steel braided is because it performs better than the rubber ones. the steel braided is the only choice due to its flexibility and strength.

i haven't asked the auto parts supplier here yet about the brake lines, i am a junk yard guy so the 1st thing i think of will be going to the junk yard. will look into that.

is the hard line very difficult to shape and bend? what about making the fittings? the size of the fitting is 5/8"

is that a common size? similar with brake line size?

i have some slight hiccup for this project currently. my car crashed on the tire barrier during a drift event so my time will be focused on getting it fixed 1st. :)

Sorry for bringing up a dead thread. Anyone ever use the Honda clutch master cylinder for their hydro setup? I bought a rebuilt one from advance for $25 and found out that the inlet is an m8x1.0 and seems impossible to source a fitting to adapt it. I'm down to the point where I'm thinking about drilling and tapping it to m10. Any input would be awesome. tried throwing this on my usual forum and got ignored.

if anyone is wondering it is possible to do this cleanly, it just takes alot of custom work.
