Whatsup nico. New to fourm had my z for a year now. Lots of late nights after hours in the shop catching up on neglected maintenance, too much to list. Mostly non performance aftermarket parts cluch brakes tires ect. Stock na is more then enough power to keep me happy double clutching thu mountain roads and getting sideways on freeway on ramps. Wired in 2 hi phonic 12in subs pushed by 1500w absolute amp. Mb quart mids an tweets soundstream staging tweeter pushed by arch adeio 4 channel. Amps stored away in a homemade plexiglass wood box. Had a buddy full limo tint windows. Roller painted ruesoluem royal blue and stock black two tone. Ordered a sweet rice rocket spoiler will be here next week. Everything added up not including my own free labor im about 800 bucks into. 2k car. Future plans are installing 4 8inch subs, repostering the interrior, wheels, cat back exaust and possiabley geting a motor to rebuild at home. Any suggestions on picking a mild cam ca smog legal? Ive only looked around for a bit and a 2000 $ kit is a little out of the price range. Considering a jdm motor swap, but I want to try it the smog legal way. California is nice a strict and would like a little extra umpf off the line.

I'm sorry, i actually thought this was somebody's idea of a joke. A post to make everybody chuckle a little. Then I scrolled down and saw photos. I still wasn't ready to believe it. Thought the pictures were staged just to be funny.

The car is painted now; so, not too much to say. Can't exactly undo that. Cure for the sound system would be simple... don't turn it on. As for the wing you ordered, please don't.

I realize I'm old; and, you probably are not. However, please, a little respect...not for me, but for the car.

Oh yeah, and welcome to Nico.

Wow dude, a little harsh.

OP, good on you for catching up on maintenance. However, not sure about that paint bro. Two tone jobs look way better when you don't do that bumper, but solid colors look the best on these cars.

As far as cams, this isn't a small block pushrod chevy engine. It's DOHC. Cams are gonna be expensive, and some will require upgraded lifters and/or valve springs. If you want a cheap car to mod or maintain, this isn't the car for you. Sorry, but it's the truth.

And as far as the subs, you'd probably get more takeoff off the line with a much smaller sub enclosure. Just saying. I had a 500W amp in my 2+2 and 2 kicker 12's, and it was loud enough to rattle the mirrors. If you just want quality, a 10 with a 200W amp would be fine. You don't need that much bass.

Pick what you want. Don't rice this car for God's sake. That's what you're trying to do. This is one of the most aerodynamic cars in history. cd of 0.32. You won't need downforce unless you're planning on going 200mph+ down the back straight of Laguna Seca. No need for a spoiler.

Please, just don't throw this car together like some high school Honda owner. It deserves more than that.

Ouch thanks for the warm welcome and all the love. Guys at work tease me all the time just assumed it was out of jealousy. If money wasnt an issue I wouldnt mind getting a professional paint job, just working with what i got. The hood roof and most upper panels where all oxidized from previous owner. Front bumper was all banged up. Little bit of regret sinks in once in a while but overall im happy with the car. Maybe not the best low budget project car still love it all the same.

I mean, losing the two tone would go a LONG way to keep people off your back, even if it's just rattle can black all over. Please though, don't put a spoiler on it. You'll avoid a lot of teasing that way. I promise.

If you're around rednecks with Murican cars though, they're always gonna talk trash. It's ok, though, because you're still driving a Z and would eat them alive on an autocross course or a tight race track.

A two tone paint job is quite interesting to say the least. You won't see many out there, because most people won't like it, but at least you have the unique factor going for you there. If I may suggest painting the front bumper cover completely or doing something like this: Image. Otherwise the lines no longer 'flow,' which is a major part of the sexiness of any car; and it looks more like it got pieced together from a donor parts car after being wrecked.

Riced paint job & rice wing

And as for the motor, I was warned before I got into mine and it's still hitting me with how much it costs. To do it properly it will cost and keep costing. Cams, lifters, springs, etc - $2,500 in parts give or take... not your $500 Honda haha

Best of luck to ya man and welcome to NICO, just please respect the car it's heritage, it has earned it.

Cheers.

It might also be possible to bring the A-pillar blue down directly in front of the door, and swing forward, and then merge with the edge of the wheel-well, in an S-curve.

It might look really bad, especially if done wrong... but it looks really bad right now, anyways.

As for the sound system, if it rattles anything, it's wayyy too loud, and makes you a total tool. Bass is fun, but you might not get any more from a cam than you would from ripping out all that crap, to lose a good amount of electrical load and weight.

If you want to do something for performance, take out the sound system and get something much smaller, and remove (but save, in good condition, obviously) every interior piece that you possibly can. DO NOT put a wing on it, and consider using a rattlecan or rolled rustoleum to fix that blue crap.

2-tone can look good on most cars. But not like you have it. At all.

Ok dude, I tried to be nice. That's hideous. No one on here is going to be even remotely supportive of anything you do on this car. Sorry. You're ruining the Z.

You know, I didn't even notice this till now. Don't know how I didn't. Maybe it was the gaudy clashing colors or the rice-tastic hood pins. God, what a shame. :tisk:

There's a fella around here with a pretty new eclipse or something, with almost that exact wing.

I like to park my beat-a** 240 next to him. It makes me feel so much better about my car, to see them side by side.

Poor thing.

You know, if you just rolled the whole thing that blue and kept it clean, with no trashy looking wing, it wouldn't look so bad.

Now I know you're a troll. Seriously dude? Please, post something constructive, or get gone. I understand you're here specifically to anger us as Z32 owners, and it's not appreciated. Oh darn, figured out your little plan already. Get gone, troll.

I did a two tone on my 91 NA. Figured I'd share since a lot of talk on two tones. I think it came out good. Follows lines of the car well. Had the texture on the lower part around the car smoothed out too.

^ i like that. the only draw back i see is that when the lower half is in the shadows , it makes the Z look higher off the ground cuz it blends in with the shadows of the car. other than that, that comes close to the best two tone paint jobs ive seens for a Z32. then agoain im not really one to comment to much on peoples cars :bigthumb:

BigT/Ace, i say let this thread run its coarse :gotme maybe him and vig should get together to create the ultimate molested Z32 evvvvvvvvaaaaarrrrr!

i uh.... i don't think he is trolling at all... he sounds to me that he is really serious. just someone who got it's hands on a somewhat rare slick top and is slowly destroying the car...

let's not forget the craigslist thread... people do this to cars... and somehow like it.... why? no idea, just zero respect for the car apparently. too much fast and furious too... come on, i thought we all already knew... ricers... that is all...

why people doesn't understand this simple thing... if you don't have the money DONT FREAKING DO IT... simple. right? EVERYONE who owns cars and like cars would love to build a sick awesome car, but not everyone can afford it, heck, even people with super awesome builds probably had to save for months if not years.

as for op... there is no way of being nice to you, and i really hope you are not serious, although the pictures show me otherwise, but i have a small hope this is a joke... if not, for all that is holy... sell the car please just get rid of it... and get a honda and go downtown... paint it with a roller all you want.

and trust me.... people laughing at you are not jealous... not by a long shot.... IS JUST SAD AND PATHETIC... you look ridiculous, and the car does too...

If I am honest I don't care for your two tone either, namely the hood being black as it just doesn't flow with anything else where as at least the body line down makes sense for a two tone type paint job. That said regardless of my opinion on your paint, from those pics it quite apparent you take good care of your car and respect it which is something we can all appreciate. What the op is doing just tells me that he is probably A. a kid that lives fast and furious like. or B. just an un-intelligent person.

Thanks for honest opinions :) I had all my work professionally done. Took off fenders bumpers, hatch, doors, etc. Got rid of all the rust, didn't just bondo or paint it. Oh and I had custom paint mixed for me, and not at home depot either.
