DIY catback exhaust, what mufflers would you guys recommend.

I've got a s13 hatchback with a megan exhaust that doesn't fit right and bangs agaist the tow hook. I didn't realy care but its also load and now I'm getting pulled over for load exhaust (funny thing is it was shooting flames for almost a year and never got pulled over till I fixed it). I've decided that I'd like to cut off the megan muffler and put my own on. I was thinking of going with a oval style with 2.5" in and dual 2.25" outs. Currently looking at the cherry bomb turbo muffler. So My question is "What oval shape exhaust mufflers would you recomend on a ka for mellow and deep?" I apreciate your help.

had a cherry bomb on my last 240 didnt sound the best. personally i like a flowmaster 40series.

I'm trying to find out if anyone here has tried out different mufflers that we can get cause I know alot of guys like to make there own exhausts. I'm not trying to find a catback and espesialy one like the one I allready have cause its giving me tickets. I need an OE style looking one. So if anyone has tried out any oval shaped mufflers ie, cherry bomb, magnaflow, flowmaster, flowtech, thrush. My goal is to have a deep but not really load oval muffler with 2 pipes coming out by cuting the one off of my 2.5" catback and ataching my own one.

I just want to know personal preferences for those who have tried american mufflers on ka24de's.

i think thrush would be a good onethey are made by dyno max and are cheapalso put a resonator in, like 14" that will make almost any muffler sound great

It sounds awsome just awsome enough to get me tickets I can't afford. No I'm not selling it cause I'm cuting the muffler off the catback and putting a quieter one on it with dual tips that aren't illegal.

Your the first person who actualy answered my question. It has the resonator from the cat back I'm just changing the rear muffler. I'm trying out the cherry bomb turbo muffler since its only $22 and if its no good I'll try the trush ones. Hey do you know if a chambered muffler would be quiet enough to argue with the cops.

i have a thrush turbo muffler and it sounds raspy i think the reason behind it is because i have no cat resonator nuthin just straight pipe to the muffler its quiet but has a nast raspy tone to it when you give it full throttle but for 25 bucks you cant beat it just make sure you get a resonator or your car will sound like poo-poo

I got a great story for you guys. First off the cherry bomb turbo muffler sounded amazing. It was exactly what I was looking for, no rasp and it sounded like my old strait through exept not load. Funny part is I was so exited about it I didn't tighten down the clamp like I should have and it fell off on my way home. I walked back to get it and just when I was bout to get it someone ran over it , that did wonders for my mood . So I decided to stop by advance auto and pick up the thrush one you guys mentioned. It sounds like poo-poo like rb240 said and I can't get it off. Thats one hell of a day there. But atleast I found the perfect muffler though its costing me $60 instead of $20 but **** hapens. I definetly recomend the cherry bomb turbo muffler to anyone who wants no tickets and great sound, the one I used was 2.5 offset in 2.5 center out and 13" body.

Hey Nick if your still in the Va Beach area check out PNP I snaggeded up a dual tip mangaflow "like the one on my BRM" off a Maxima for like 5 bucks. Its on the AE86 now and it sounds quite nice. Anyways how have you been man?

You know how long I've been trying to get a hold of you? Things are pretty good. Whens the next time they do drifting in pungo my car is finaly runable with new engine, all she needs now is a turbo.

sorry you had to buy a new muffler but thanks for storyi was gunna go with the thrush but i think ima go with the cherry bomb now. same price so why not. is your single tip or duel? think it would make any sound diffrence?i know it would look sexyer and we all know if it looks good gotta addlike atleast 15hp

i bought 1 of those n1 exhaust n i think its nice. i thought it was going to be ricey but it actually sounds HOT.. it has a deep sound and when you punch the pedal it actually sounds amazing. it sounds like my friends Redtop for some reason..

I've got single tip and it realy doesn't make that much of a difference in performance but I think it would sound different. I would recomend puting a dual chromie on the muffler if you want the dual look and keep the sound from the muffler I recomended.

I've got an even better story now. I put the thrush one on so that I thought police wouldn't haras me, well last night I got an undercover state trooper tailgating me. ****ing comunist-wealth virginia was looking for young blood. I don't like tailgaters because my brakes are drilled and sloted and brake alot better than stock. So I spead up to get away from him since it was a single lane road. He flipped on his little blue lights and I turned on my emergensy flashers and slowed down to find a pull over spot. Then his buddy comes by and cuts me off like I'm trying to run from them. So they are just harasing me about my car and pickig everything they can give me a ticket for and I remaned calm and aswered their questions to the best of my ability despite their ****ing attitude. So after an hour of them trying to screw my life up every way they can I end up with a 70-mph in a 50mph which was never mentioned until he asked me to sign the ticket and an exhaust ticket for being "too loud" I should have said they need a ticket for being to much of a d!ck. It not the ticket the pisses me off so much its the way they treat you even when you cooperate. Its like they forget they are suposed to be on our side. It seems they like to attack young people that can hardly afford the next months rent. I guess screwing peoples lives up helps prevent crime.
