Part of this has been discussed before and it was decided that the BOV should be mounted, in basically the only place to put it, on the metal pipe right by the turbo. I know where i'm going to run everything else but my question comes from this link: DIY BOV

He has a one way check valve installed on the turbo but i have actually heard that the ability to draw air backwards around the turbo at vacuum can improve response at idle. My question is: Is the check valve necessary and if not...is there any truth to what i stated about drawing air backwards at vacuum?

some BOVs are really loose when not under pressure, so that it sucks straight through them, like the Blitz one, that's why some have filters on them, so they can act like an intake, but that'd screw up the MAF, idle'd be a little funky, but you can always tune it,

atleast thats what I thought, and it sounds feasable :D

man please dont waste the money on that plastic ricr valve like that spend a bit more and get a real BOv recirv valve and have a muffler shop weld on a flange to the hotpipe. mine attaches just like that in the picture but its 100X better its a turbo XS type h 34 its a recirculative valve or bov heres a picture!

yeah, I wouldn't get a plastic one either, I'm gettin' HKS SSQV, but I've yet to get the money to buy my parts, since I still owe to much on the damn car itself, grrrrrrrr...oh well, in due time :D

That funky "Beat the seal across the head noise" blowoff valve has a bad reputation for leaking, getting stuck and being nearly worthless after 15psi. I know too many people that end up selling theirs because of the dramas it have. I'm not recommending these, but I use the older blitz units and they work just fine. I also have a pair of greddy type R BOV's that I'm going to be splitting up between the two cars (one greddy/one blitz per car).

I think that'd be a waste for now. When i upgrade the turbo and get a FMIC i plan on going with a Greddy type R. For now though, i was going to go look for a 1st gen DSM BOV (they aren't plastic if i remember correctly) and just try and run a cheap set up that'll help out the turbo a bit.

I won't have to worry about the funky idle with the MAF because i'll be recirculating it. The only place it could draw air would be after the MAF so it should have already taken that air into account.

1stGen DSM BOV's are among the best of the OEM's the gtr valves are even engineered after them, WRX is the exact same thing with a different flange. besides all that, they are pretty cheap compared with most aftermarket jobbies.....

I hear bad things about the SSQV, but I've also seen alot of cars running them with no problems, so I'll draw my own conclusion, and go from there.
