has anyone here done there car alignment themselves?

I was looking in the back of Grassroots Motorsports and noticed some kits that you can get to adjust castor and camber.

I did a little more research and i read about some ppl that just went to there local hardware store picked up some items and made there own devices to make measurements.

want to know if anyone has tried these kits or just done the alignment themselves.

thanks

Why?

Alignments are cheap.

not really.... theyre like $40-$50 a pop.... I think it'd be a nice thing to have if you were confident that it worked well and you went in on it with your friends....

not when you keep replacing suspension parts one by one, forgetting that you'll have to get a new alignment each time you replace something.... cough.... like somebody I know....

That would be nice if I had one around here. It seems like every couple of weeks I add something that makes me need to get an alignment.

I think I am going to try and work something out with the guys at sears since I have bought my tires there. They give me really good deals on the tires (even cheaper than tires.com). Also they let me watch while they do all the work, which is mush nowadays.

alignments arent that expensive true but i can't seem to get a shop around me that will do it with out giving me trouble or having to talk to a manager or something.

f i have to go through that everytime i get a new suspension piece that can be a hassle.

And the last reason why i want to get one is that I auto-cross alot and i wanna start adjustment when i do that and i would like a way to put things back when done.

If anybody here lives in the southwest Houston, TX and knows of a place that will do alignments on modded/lowered car please let me know.

but either way i would still like a review on the alignment gauges.
