distributor won't go in

I just recently put a remanufactured head on my ka24de and am have a bit of trouble with installing my distributor. It just won't go in even with some light taps of the hammer it doesn't seem to slide back into the idler pully teeth. Should i try and get another upper time chain cover or is it maybe the head i have? someone plz help
