Distributor will not go in

Information on the naturally-aspirated KA24E and KA24DE engines.

I just replaced my timing chain guides on my 90 240 fastback and now i put everything back together and the distributor wont go back in. I adjusted to timing gear and the crank. Can anyone help me out? thanks

actually, no. sorry, totally off topic did you figure out what your smoking intake issue was/is Ive got a 97 alty with a ka doing the same exact thing any help? thanks

have u tried removing the cap and turning the gear on the zizy while in the hole?

just asking, sounds stupid but might help

get a flashlight and look inside the distributor shaft. You will see a half moon/circle shaped shaft at the tip and gears just below. Then look inside of the actual distributor and you will see the female version of the half moon/circle. Line them up and slide it in with the cap off so that you can keep the rotor from spinning. If you haven't removed the oil pump then there shouldn't be any timing issues once its back together. Get it on, start it up and turn the rotor left or right till the car runs correctly then tighten the two bolts to secure it.
