My car's KA is 100% stock. But for some reason the distributor has been adjusted, and is no longer centered like in the picture below. It has been turned counter clockwise all the way over. Did someone advance my timing or retard it? What reason would someone do this on a stock motor? Should I change it back? It runs pretty decently.. ive driven it 40k miles like this, and just noticed it the other day. Its been like that since I got the car.

On mine, the bolt is all the way to the right.

People do all kinds of things to the timing advance... advance it for more power, retard it to reduce spark knock. I would get a timing light to set it accurately to it's stock setting - then tweak it from there.

yup check timing with a timing light, also im not sure with your motor, but with mine(vg30i) it has to be at operating temp to be done. This is due to the ecu(computer) advancing it automatically. My advice would be to purchase a chiltons/haynes manual at autostore. Lots of good stuff in there
