I've followed all the steps on FAQ multiple time and even took off the valve cover to adjust the distributor. With all the spark and gas going in there's no ignition at all. I'm wondering if I put the crank pully back on the wrong way and causing all this. When I pull the spark plugs out and put in rods to get the the cylinder all the way top, how do I know if it's #1 cylinder's turn to fire or #4 cylinder's turn to fire? Because they both raise to top and lower to bottom at the same time. But I do notice that they make hissing noise in turns. If the adjustments to pully markings are completely wrong. How do I know if it's #1 turn to fire and not #4?

Thanks

I don't think you can get the crank pulley on the wrong way. take the valve cover off and look at the cam lobes. watch the intake cam go around and as soon as the lobes push down on the tappets watch your crank and you should see the little hash marks come around. Line it up on 0 degrees tdc (the #1 and #4 piston should be on top).

Yes, so it was on the compress stroke as well.We just ran out of clues as to why the engine suddenly quit ignition.

Hey did you ever get this figured out? I'm having the same issues it seems that you're having. I'm aligning everything as shown on many walkthroughs as far as the distributor goes and the car gets fuel and spark but i get nothing mroe than a backfire through the intake. let me know if you figured it out. I too am wondering if by chance i somehow put the crank pulley on wrong or something.thanks
