i was doing some research on stand alone systems for the ca18det and i found one for about $700. Full features. now i haven't actually had time to look at my motor and its WAY to cold right now to take the time to look in it but anyway, i need an answer to this question i received in response to a question i had about the stand alone.

"By the sounds of things you have a blanked-off distrubutor with the pickups inside. If this is the case, can you take a peak inside this dizzy and tell me how many pickups and how many teeth per pickup? From this I will be able to tell you what kind of injection pattern you can use. Changing the injection patterns makes very little impact on peak power figures - only cruising and fuel consumption (emissions) are affected"

I have no clue about the distributor, and the manual i downloaded for the ca18det has nothing about it. so if someone could answer the above question about the distributor it would be greatly appreciated. Because i am kind of concerned about emissions and fuel economy. But even if it turns out the engine is only batch fire compatable i'll still end up buying the system becuase its only $700. yay!

ca's dont have distributors, they have crank angle sensors, if you look in the FSM you have you will see the info on the Crank Angle Sensor, i think it 360 teeth and 4 or 2 pickups (dont quote me on this) i cant rememebr, check your manual,

and you could always make a crank trigger wheel or buy one from electromotivce or others if you are going stand alone.

I think it has 360 slots with 4 windows. I can check my CA FSM, they have a picture of the working parts inside the CAS.

TMS I think it's only 3. One is for every 360*, one is every for every 90*, and one it at TDC of the #1 cylnder.
