I'm about to replace the distributor on my KA with anoter used item to see if it will replace my motor randomly dieing problem.

I downloaded the FSM, but I gotta be honest, I'm having a hard time following along with the instructions, and I haven't even found instructions on how to swap the distributor.

I'm affraid I"ll get instructions like this:

1. Remove distributor2. Install new distributor.3. Test car.

I'm used to Honda Helms manuals, with more detail.

Thanks in advance.

Remove the plug wires, cap and rotor from the distributor.take note of the direction the rotor is facing BEFORE you remove it as it will need to be installed the exact same way.Remove the 2 screws holding the distibutor to the block, once again take note of the postion of the screws in the distributor as the holes are slotted to allow adjustment of base timing.Pull the distributor out- it should just pop right out. Install the rotor onto the new distributor and point it in the same direction it was on the old one. Slide the next distributor back into the block, you'll notice the rotor turns when you slide it in so you actually have to offset the rotor before you slide the distributor in so that it will be facing the right way when it's installed. -hope that makes sensereplace the screws that hold the distributor to the block making sure its in the exact same position it was when you removed it. Replace the cap and plug wires and fire it up.

anyone else, some pics might help I dont have any right now

I believe its 20* BTDC

but if you put a litttle mark on the distrubutor casing right where the bolt goes through (Like I should have said before) you shouldnt need to retime it.

take it easy, and good luck
