Okay, so i took of the distributor cap to check and see if it was pointed towards #1 at TDC. In the process i took the rotor off (please don't ask why, cuz i don't know). Then i put it back together. I started the car up and it died. Started it again, i held the rpms at 2500, all is good, i let off and it stuggles and dies. Start it again, hold at 1500 rpms and it stutters and stuggles a bit, rev it to 4000, all good, let off and it dies. So basically it cant idle. I took of the dist. cap and noticed very fine black shavings. They were all over everthing inside the cap. ( very fine shavings). What do you think happened? ( I blew off all the shavings and it still cant idle)

edit: 92ka24de, also could i just adjust the idle to 1500 or more and be able to drive like that because i have emmissions coming up in 2 days.

did you put your spark plug wires back in the right place/cylinder. just back track what you did and it will give you where to look.

they were all hooked upcorrectly, i checked to see if i bolted it all back in place correctly and everything checks out

Edit: good news, i started it up and it doesn't die but it still struggles and stutters a bit (the motor shakes alot even at 1300 but didn't die)

another question i have is could i be getting to much fuel, choking the engine because i took my spark plugs out, looked down into the cylinders and they are soaking wet, actually there is a huge puddle on 3 of them.

Edit: I think i might have found another issue. Is it possible that the dist. rotor could point at #1 without being at TDC. I mean i dont see any timing marks on the pulley when it points to #1.

Check your plug wires. Sounds like when you moved them a weak spot showed up.

I've seen it many times, things work great until you move something.
