Not really needed as the SR doesnt use a distro.... So hat would rule the question our if he did.

The cap and rotor are on the distributor, the thing all the plug wires go into :)

To take the cap off just unplug all 4 wires and the coil wire (s13 only) then remove the 2 8mm / phillips screws... Thats it.

For the rotor youll pull that straight off when the cap comes off.

I really dont think it matters but there may be a design difference in those years I dont know of...

FWIW I have a mitsu distro cap on my 96 dohc.. Not the word but just the tri star emblem on it.

You sure you just pull it straight off? In my Mitsubishi system on my 89, the rotor had a screw on the backside that I had to take out first.

DOH!!!!! someone doesn't have an sr do they!! Just changed mine. Made the mistake of buying aftermarket (bad move). Bought nissan 3 months later. It had a mitsu emblem on it too. The rotor pulls right off. 91' DE

Ditto here ... I have an '89 with Mitsubishi ... the rotor has the screw on the side. Just got done replacing cap, and rotor ... amongst $800 worth of other stuff.

Well, $350 was for the tires ;)

Sorry about that pull off deal... 99% of my experience comes from the various s13 / s14 Ive owned / repaired with DOHC ka's..

Ill keep note of that though :)

Bumping this mega old thread because I just ran into this issue. The Mitsu cap is indeed different from the Hitachi cap and they are not interchangeable. When looking into the cap, the pickup points on the Mitsubishi cap are .65mm deeper than they are on the Hitachi cap. It bolts on fine and idles fine, but since the rotor doesn't touch the pickups it feels just like spark blowout at anything more than 25% throttle.

You might be able to put the Hitachi cap on the Mitsubishi dizzy, but I'd keep them together.
