i have a 90 240sx w/ a ka24e. i just recently changed plugs, wires, cap, and rotor but the gasket between the cap and the distributor is in pieces and not reusable. i can't seem to find one at local parts stores. will it end up being dealer only or is there an easier way? any help is appreciated

There is an o- ring on the distributor. Thats all you really need to stop oil from leaking out. Just find one the same size or close.

i don't have problems with oil leaking from the bottom of the distributor. i replaced the cap and rotor. then, i realized there was a gasket between the cap and distributor. i thought there wasn't much use for it and it'd be fine without it. however, when you look at the cap sitting on the distributor without that gasket there are small holes where moisture and road grime could get in. probably would have been fine and could've used rtv. i would rather be safe than sorry plus everyone thought i was crazy

u know i don't think there is one but for some reason after i did my head gasket fix it looked funny too like a gasket should be there or something to block moisture.

its just the little thing to seal dust and stuff from getting inside the dist. cap.

i just wrapped some electrical tape around the opening.

it was right around 6 bucks..but the dealer will ask you if you have a mitsubishi or hitachi distributor..but i think the vin number should tell them that
