I was checking my cap and there are burned marks on all the contact points. Is this normal and what effects would it have on my car?

EDIT: stock 92 240sx.

Yeah I've always seem some burn/corrosion marks on the contacts on the inside of the cap. If its elevated from the rest of the contact, you can knock it off with a flathead screwdriver/dust them up with some sand paper, or replace the whole cap.

The effects would be weaker spark. If you let it go so long, you could get some misfires/bad gas mileage/poor emissions performance/hard starts.

every cap ive seen has those marks on the contacts. If you can pick it off and it creates a groove replace the cap and rotor, there cheap.
