I purchased a 97 that was a great running shape until the distributor locked up but snapped its mounting bracket off. I can look down in the hole and see that the cam Here has large scratches on it but otherwise looks like it's intact. And that camshaft and head survive and event like that? I'm going to pull off the valve cover tomorrow and take a look at it and see if anything looks cracked or bent otherwise I'm thinking about maybe just polishing that here installing a different distributor just release of see if it still runs. If I go this route how do I need to position the engine in order to properly install the distributor?

Already have a 98 with a good running engine on it but it has a lot of extra work that I don't to complete right now

The next option is to pull the head and replace it, but looking at the amount of work involved than just replacing the head I wonder if it isn't just about as useful to do a complete engine swap which have not done one in 35 years.

Should the 98 to 97B a straight swap? The 97 has an auto trans and the 98 has a five speed manual.any help appreciated
