I asked this question one time before and wasn't successful in getting the solution to this problem that is driving me nuts. I have a car in original condition with recently replaced Bose speakers. It made sense therefore to maintain the stock system. This means very few options to add a CD player. I bought a Sony RF (FM signal) 10 CD stacker. I was not expecting perfection from such a set-up, but this is hardly worth keeping. Unless I maintain a steady diet of head banger music, the distortion is very noticable. I have tried all manor of ground options, including running a separate wire all the way to the battery. I have tried a noise filter and also exchanged my unit for a second to eliminate it as a source. Still no joy. Is there some inherent incompatability between Bose and other systems? I'm almost ready to start listening to the yappers on the radio again.

I think you have identified your problem.

Well a precision stereo FM broadcast exciter [suitable to drive a power amplifier/transmitter and meeting FCC specifications] cost around $11,000.

Some cheap transmitters.http://www.nctc.com/~dfluehe/lpfm.htmht ... e....tid=1

Your Sony RF Modulator should have an output adjustment. You might check the different settings to see if changing stations or signal output would help. If you're handy with a soldering iron and about $5 in parts from Radio Shack, you can adapt the unit to go directly into the DIN plug on the back of your radio.... that's what I did, and I chose the Sony unit because of it's simple RCA output for the line outputs. It's worked great for 3-4 years now.

I hate Bose. I hate their home audio. I hate their car audio. They're nothing but an overpriced junk brand.

I got a bad amp fixed on my 92 Q, for the driver's door speaker, and after a week it started buzzing. Then hissing, then crackling, then popping.

Sometimes its dead, sometimes it works. It seems to prefer warm weather and hates rainy days. I've never had such a horrible factory sound system. The passenger's side door is hissing now too.

After owning two 3rd gen Maximas, a J30 and now my 1991 Q, I swore I would never invest another dime into a Bose repair. What did I do? I bought a 1996 Bose CD tape head unti from ebay and spent 150 bucks for amp replacements in my front doors in San Diego...

now my CD player is tempermental... Soon I shall rip the entire system out and start from scratch, but I do not feel like shelling out the 750 it is going to cost to do that.
