Distibutor ground? 89' 240sx

There is a little plug coming just above the main distributor plug that appears to be a ground. It comes out just below the distributor cap. I tried grounding it out, but the engine hunts when i do this. What could this plug be and where should it be plugged? It is the same kind of plug that is on the coil ground.
