This is absolutely correct. You can not gauge your fuel eco from a tank or 2. There are many different variables that can play in your fuel eco for one tank. For instance, you could've driven more aggressive than you should, had more stop and go traffic than you will experience in the future, a windy week, more hills were driven, idled for longer periods, etc. If we based fuel eco on one tank at a time, then I must have the best V. I averaged 55 MPG on one tank. I've never gotten close to this since.marleyfan wrote: Mileage is NEVER based on one tank of gas.
I suspect the tank wasn't quite full to start with. Happened to me recently, got a surprisingly low mileage on one leg of a road trip but then remembered that the needle hadn't come all the way up to start with. If by "first tank" you mean the gas the car had in it when you picked it up from the dealer, you're even more likely to have started out low.The Edge wrote:Well after my first tank I averaged 17.5 mpg. This is mixed city and highway. I have the 6MT and never revved her above 2500 rpm during shifting. Even with winter fuel this is not acceptable mileage. Maybe the dealer put some bogus gas, I don't know but we'll see how this second tank goes.
I guess i jumped the gun a bit and yes that tank was the dealer freeby so I will repost what the results are in this second tank.rwanttaja wrote:

If your second tank mileage is as low, though, take it in to the dealer. A Versa shouldn't get that low unless you're pulling stumps with it. My initial mileage was about 24 MPG (mostly city, but it has come up to about 28).

Wow good thread. I just sent you an email with some questions on your versa and didn't see you started some threads. The Edge wrote:

I second this suspicion.rwanttaja wrote:
