hey whats up?? i asked something like this in the tech section but thought id ask here and try to get a definite answer.

first someone said stroking the sr to 2.2l is really bad for the engine but people have stoked out engines all the time so whats your take on that??

also some one said u should bore and strok out the engine not just one or the other but lots of cars are just bored or just sroked so whats up with that?? also if strokin is bad on the engine(or if not) couldnt you just bore out the sr???? thanks

the SR has a bore and stroke of 86mm by 86mm. That's perfect and square. What this does is keep the motor from putting too much stress on one particular aspect of the motor.

Say you leave the bore alone, but increase the stroke out to 90mm. The rods will see more stress because they've been taken out of square. Rev it too high, and you risk either throwing a rod or spinning a bearing.

If you can keep the motor close to square bore and stroke, you reduce the likelyhood of odd stresses being put on the internals.

To say that stroking and SR is bad, I wouldn't go that far. Many cars get stroked or destroked. But like any modification, it reduces the life of the motor.

I personally would prefer to leave the SR in its factory configuration. It's pretty bullet proof and I can focus on trying to fix up its only true glass jaw. The head

so if you did want to up the displacment it would be best to stroke it to 2.2l and bore it out another .2l so its 2.4l???(which iv heard alot of)
