Just more of a show with very little to tell. After 3 years of straight up abuse, multiple experimental turbos, 3 different size of injectors, multiple turbo manifolds, various timing configurations as well as fuel maps and boost ranges from 15-25psi on an everyday basis; I can conclude that this puppy is indeed a work-horse and I am proud to be one of many tuners who have had much success with it. Attached is some photos, so use your imagination and then one can probably say the same thing I say and that's the fact the CA18DET is a monster when it comes to abuse.

The bores were in great condition and only one piston had a cracked ringland, which was not at all eccentric. Pistons showed signs of detonation and some lean conditions, but I'm assuming this was when I was using the remapped ecu By J?T in Cali.......

good god, its a monster!

ill see if i can out-do you this weekend when i do the same to my motor. yours may have been reefed on daily, but mine has run out of oil 3 times, run out of coolant once (in a spectacular block-smoking overheating episode after which it showed no signs of giving up), and 9000rpm of my friend's idiot lead foot. it sounds like a million bucks, starts instantly and goes like crazy despite all of this. im kinda excited to see what it looks like inside.....

oh, and that 3rd time i ran out of oil, i had to drive it from six flags back to huntsville despite its horrible condition. it made it fine. my engine is my hero.

while on the subject of awesome engines, i would like to take the opportunity to say volvo engines are the worst things ever. my mom's is going to be on its 3rd one now. its a 96. the last one made it 30k miles. thanks volvo for ruining my family's financial status once again. i would choose death over owning another volvo. im dead serious. last time it took the dealer 5 weeks to fix, and they didnt give us a loaner or a rental. then they refused to pay for the rental we had to get. then they proceeded to charge us 3500 bucks for something that lasted 30k miles. i think im gonna send the CEO of volvo a letter bomb.

Quick update!

In without another broken ring. I'm waiting for the Tomei valve springs so that the head can be completed. It ought to be one hell of a woman-driven monster. Goal is 500whp and I don't see a problem at achieving; or it will die trying as well;)

This one is the lesser of the 2 evils. This my g/f's motor/car, but she will be running an improvised 601 which is actually a T3/T04E stage III with upgraded front wheel and housing. Injector size is 72 lb/hr, Tomei 270 cams with 9mm lift, Tomei valve springs, head meticulously ported and polished with a 3 angle valve job, ARP head studs, new rod bearings, re-shotpeened rods, CP pistons, NISMO 1.2mm 3 layer metal headgasket, custom transmission with helical LSD, and of course the SDS standalone that I swear by. I know it will do 500........

The other engine is the better built as it is sporting: Wiseco pistons, Pauter rods, ARP mains, ARP heads, seriously modified head to accept JUN 272 cams with a 10.5mm lift, jun valve springs, 3 angle valve job, nismo 1.2mm metal h/g, MSD 96lb/hr injectors, custom sheet metal intake manifold, custom header, new OEM oil pump, new rod and main bearings, custom transmission even better than the other on my g/f's car with helical LSD and a host of other goodies that have costed a pretty penny!

Anyone interested in catching a view of my custom axles (especially the FWD boyz) here's a sneak preview of the one's from my g/f's car. The ones for my car are actually thicker in diameter. Also will include some bonus pics
