yeah i bought it..... waited, waited, got it in the mail, YES!

1 i get no parts list.

so i call him, no problem he gives it to me via email

so i go to the mechanics to drop it off( he helps us on all our datsun projects that look to difficult for us)
so we get a call.
we need new lines
 we need a proportioning valve
the rims in the front wont fit ( slotted mags,  stock rims will never fit)

ah s***.

we go to the junkyard.

lucky us, we find all the lines we need and the proportioning valve  ( 280zx, maxima)

we talk to bob ( mechanic) and he says that the whole conversion has been a b****.

crap, again

so, to this point the truck is on the lift, the front wheels wont fit, im gettin pissed off.

so i send him an email. no respond. another email, again no response

so were on our own. we bought 17's with low profile tires.

tommorow were going to bobs to finish out.
his estimated price- bout 700 bucks in parts
where were at without bobs labor costs- 2000+

oh shiieeeet
you peeps at the JCCS better like it.
pics of the pickup are on this site look under photo album the topic is " the 521 owned by me"
if u want the disk brake conversion parts list i have them available.
and in about 2 weeks im going to a machine shop to make boxes and boxes of replicas of the brackets. ill be selling them dirt cheap not putting them on ebay so you can bid on a nightmare of a conversion.

Not sure who you purchased your setup from...
There has been talk for years on various forums, (NWDE, Ratsun, Yahoo Groups and even here) as to the exact nature of the front disc conversions...
MKlotz perfected the first setup to go behind stock looking rims(actually Dodge D50's)
A few others took that info and made their own setups...
there is not any setup yet that will mount up behind stock rims...not yet...
Hopefully someone will take the time and figure it out for all to enjoy...

here's the info I found easily for others to read about:
Finelines Version:

Extensive topic covering several different versions:

WOW! That’s amazing considering it only took a weekend to put that SAME... EXACT... brake kit in my buddy’s 521. And I must say "FineLine" was very responsive to my questions. Sounds like your "mechanic" kinda bent you over... So to speak. It's amazing what you get when you ask the right questions. "Will it they fit under stock rims" (NO!) 15's or bigger. "What parts do I need?" (I'll email you the parts list, let me know if you need any help). These are the answers to the questions we got from FineLine. It is by NO MEANS a bolt on kit, and I do not think he portrays it as such. Your truck is very nice and I'm not trying to come off like a b**** but when a kit is easy enough to put on your truck; in a garage, on jack stands - With just a few standard tools - I just don’t understand why you want to waste $2,000 with a mechanic. Any one of us who has an old Datsun (weather it be a Truck, 510, Roadster or whatever) expects to do some of; if not most of, the work to them. I have driven a few trucks with the brake kit on them and I am absolutely pleased with the results. When time and money permit I will be ordering a couple of these kits (FROM FineLine) for my truck as well as my girlfriends. I'm glad to hear that everything worked out, but it's a shame that you have to badmouth someone else’s creativity for the lack of being able to do the work yourself.

well the mechanic is our buddy. we spent 2K in parts. he only charged us 200 bucks.
and i didnt really mean to badmouth him, i was just fuming because my wallet took a big dent. its not a bad kit, it was just a bit tough to do and we didnt want to eff it up because brakes are kinda important. and we didnt buy the set from fineline we bought it from some ohter guy.http://www.nwde.org/extras/forum/forum_ ... p?TID=4695
thats his kit. and it was nothing like what he said

I believe I remember you, and I believe I was more than accomodating to you.  How was the kit not what was advertised?  I advertised 2 metal brackets, you got 2 metal brackets.  Am I missing something?

I never claimed that I would come in the box and install it for you!  I emailed you the parts list because there are pictures that go with it to help you get everything you need to make the swap.  Sounds to me like maybe you picked the wrong hobby here if installing a couple of rotors/calipers is too difficult for you.

What are you going to do when you have to do major engine/transmission work to this truck?

You didn't intend to slander my parts, but you did; so you should watch how you word things.  Every person I've sold these to have gotten both of my emails and my cell phone number so I could assist them in any way possible, which is more than I can say for a major manufacturing company.

i dotn think it was you because there wernt any pictures that came with it.
and we have plenty of experience with manufacturing. weve installed 3 SR20 engines into 510's, weve swapped the transmission on that pickup 3 times, and weve done countless things to our 1200.
