Cali really sucks. Where I'm from, if a cop sees your modified exhaust, there's a good chance he'll ask you to pop your hood as well. (It's already happened two people I know.)

Anyways, I was wondering if any of you guys know where to go to get custom fabricated plastic engine bay covers?

VW does this on their stock cars. Wouldn't it be nice to get one that says "KA24E" on top =P.

Here's some inspiration:

Humm.. It would be really hard to have one that looks stock I think, but if you did it would be a good idea.

Well, if the Cali cops are on top of their game, they will know what an SR looks like AND they will know what a KA looks like. So while your plan has good merit, I think that the cops would realize that the engine doesn't look like it is supposed to if there was a big plastic piece covering it.

240sx with swaps are popular, but they're not that popular. I doubt any cops would know what the difference is. Unless they were special street racing cops.

The only cops I'm worried about are the CHP. They are the ones with the funding to be trained as to what an engine swap is, and the vendetta against every driver on the freeway. Truth be told though, if I was a CHP officer and had to day in, day out deal first hand with the stupidity I see on the freeways... I'd write off the driving public as a bunch of morons too.

case and point: black240 just took his car to be checked out (noise ticket)... they looked directly at his SR redtop and COMMENTED on how it wasnt a turbo. most people really just dont know, its the people who know what to look for that you gotta worry about-- and those people arent going to be fooled by a plastic cover over the engine.

Before I bought my 240SX, I drove three different 510's. Old school cars are great and all, but sometimes it's nice to have a car that isn't going to require countless hours, or thousands of dollars worth of restoration.

bah, why fix restore it? rust makes it lighter, and most 240sx's need lots of restoration to be honest.
