I'm about to order my motor from Osaka JDM. Do we get discounts from these guys? Also, just to through this out there has anyone had problems with them?

THanks!

I'll save you on two accounts here, John. we don't get discounts through Osaka. The reason why is because Osaka is a crappy company and you'd be wise to find another import company to order through.

That was a pretty straight forward answer. We'll I'm glad I asked before I bought it. Who do you suggest Hijacker? Once again thanks for the help.

Zerolift has been good. So you may want to email them. They're also a site sponsor, so you can ask about discounts too.

We have a thread linked in the FAQ dedicated to buyer reviews of companies to buy through. Take a look through that and make a decision

I heard bad things about Osaka. Ive also heard good things. I went through Osaka in march. I ordered the complete redtop/ecu/maf/ignitor/harness etc. They charged me $1800 shipped. When the motor came, some stuff had been damaged during shipping. I called osaka up and spoke with Emily, they replaced all of the parts that were damaged. (ps pump, crank pulley, coolant neck. They sent me all the parts I needed for no charge. They had also forgotten my Ignitor and MAF, which they also sent me. Swapped out all that stuff and got my swap done. Motor runs awesome. Transmission is great too. Motor didn't have the 25k miles they claim, probably closer to 50k. If you are taking your time and don't mind the hassle you may have then go for it. It was def worth the trouble for the price. Heavy Throttle wants like ~$2500 for their motors.

Up to you, I would go with them again but it seems to be hit or miss with their company.

JHOT Imports, all the way. Great service and GREAT prices.

I bought my Silvia Front and Engine from them. Both were pristine and perfect.

They do have a discount for Nico people as well. It seems Gabe will take off 100 or so on a motorset.

Their motorsets never get shipped without everything and you also get whatever was on the engine when they get it, whether its a BOV, Grounding Wire Set or a booger.

Try jhot, Osaka, or ask heavythrottle if they still sell em or who they'd go to.

If you are ordering, demand pictures of the motorset you are going to be buying. Leak down tests and compression tests are your friends. If they can not provide these things, at least pictures, chances are they will screw you.

Don't buy from Canada. Don't buy off eBay.

are you sure about the discounts from JHOT? I don't want to call them and be like what is up with the discount? So I'm getting the impression not to buy from Osaka. Now how about if it is JHOT motors that is on EBAY?

Why not just call them up and ask them instead. Any legit business should give you the same price if not better. Don't forget to factor in shipping

Honestly man, you may thank yourself if you find the closest one so you can hand pick your motor.

JHOTs prices are cheaper generally if you call or talk to them online. There is a thread in the vendors section here with his AIM name.

He told me the Ebay prices are marked up 100-200 dollars generally. Just give him a shout and theyll send you pictures of all that they have, on the same day or next day from my and a friend's experience.

Stay away from Osaka I have been doing research for about a year for SR's and Osaka has had ALOT of issues even been reported , I recomend you spend the extra dough and buy from our reputable sponsors not just ones that joined recently.

The only problem is that all the engine sellers in Florida are selling redtops for 2500+ that's not including taxes and shipping.

Find somewhere that sells GOOD motors, not cheap motors. If you show up at their door, you can haggle...especially w/ taxes. If you pick it up, just find someone with a truck and engine hoist. Warranties are nice, but usually don't include anything. If you pick up a motor with some bad parts , letsay turbo, fuel rail, alternator, it will wind up costing you ALOT more...not that any of those happened to friggin be bad with the one I bought for $2500 >:O

Take however much you've calculated the whole swap to cost you, and increase that number by at least 20%. If you don't have near that much, don't bother going through with it.

Make sure the swap includes everything...

MAF, uncut (or at least salvagable) harness, ingitor chip, ecu

..some dealers don't know know the definition of "complete"
