Does anybody know how to disconnect or unhook the select cable and shifter cable from the transmission? I am in the middle of trying to pull the transmission and this is the last obstacle in my way. The FSM hasn't been very useful for this step because for some reason it says to slide the stopper and push a release button to undo the select cable, but there doesn't seem to be anything to slide or any button to push. Do these cables have to be disconnected underneath the shifter and then the whole cables pulled out along with the transmission? If anyone has done this or knows the answer and can shed some light on this, it would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance

In the middle of the pic you see the rubber spring like covering to the "linkage" that is the whole slide the round smooth thingy with the three little notches I would put money on that being the button. Things like this are always different car to car but very similar in the same way ya know, so find a tutorial on youtube or something that would be the easiest rout to try.

May I ask why you are pulling the transmission, is it a six speed manny get some pics of where it connects to the engine maybe a five speed to a six speed swap with the 1.6 may be possible.
