Does anyone have any idea why my 240 would start smoking after i installed a full exhaust system? I did disconnect the secondary air system and put on a strait through converter. Im almost wondering if all that stuff prevents excessive smoking or if with all the welding i had done to some of the exhaust is burning off. Its not white or blue and it doesnt smell funny its almost like when during the winter you first start the car and its smokey. if it doesnt stop i might just try and reinstall the air system and my old converter which didnt look that good but ill do whatever i gotta do to stop the smoking.

You don't have a cat to burn all that crap into water, where did you think it would go?

If you drive it a while it might get better, as you say. Or it might not.

You took out emissions things, did you really expect your emissions to not change?

*edit* also stock KA's allegedly run rich from what I've read on nico, so if you took off emissions stuff, like EGR, as well as the cat and the pair valve (i think thats what you mean by secondary air) then you're probably running too rich if you're on the stock ECU tune. Dunno if it will hurt anything though, I think you'll just get bad milage and maybe slightly less power than you should have, maybe kill O2 sensors or something in the long run.

Did this happen right after you installed everything or is it still doing like a week later??? When I went catless and put on a new header it smoked for like 20 mins but that was it bc it was burning of the coatings that were on there. Also mechanicalM is right once you remove your emissions it doesn't break down the exhaust gases at all.

Figured it out, somehow alot of water was in the piping and was steaming i guess. all good the following morning, did put the cat back on anyways, needed some backpressure haha

.....you did not need backpressure.

There was probably water because that's what a cat makes. When you start your car it will spit water, though once it's warmed up it's steam.
