hey guys. on my downpipe there was an o2 sensor, and my aftermarket piece didnt have a plug for it. i have been running without it for a long time and havent noticed any problems but i was wondering if this is ok, should i get a bung fabbed onto my pipe, anything like that?

also when i changed my filter, there was a little temp sensor on the factory air box, i have left this un plugged as well with no adverse affects, but i was wondering on this too. is it ok to leave it unplugged, should i do anything about it?

thanks!

the temp sensor might not be that big a deal, but no o2 sensor ought to make a very noticeable drivability issue, be it poor performance, or terrible gas mileage. If it defaults to running overly rich, like i'd imagine it would, then you run the risk of washing your cylinder walls of oil and causing a nice little disaster in some amount of time. So, yes, i would put a bung in and install an o2 sensor - get a new one to save yourself the hassle of replacing it again in the near future.

if thats your ONLY O2 sensor, then running without it is a not a smart idea.

The ECU gets feedback from the O2 and adjusts the a/f mix accordingly. Car is probably running in limp mode right now.

Air temp sensor should not cause any problems being unplugged, but I would mount it back somewhere just to be on the safe side.

there is another o2 in the manifold. sorry i didnt mention. Somone told me the one in the downpipe was a secondary one or somthing and that it helped confirm the values of the primary one, has anyone heard this?

the secondary 02 sensor is there to check the functionality of the catalytic convertor, located inbetween the primary and the 2ndary oxygen sensors. I think it doesn't effect fuel control, but should tell the ECU if there is a certain degree of deviance in the voltages (if the catalytic convertor is doing its job, the 2nd plug signal should almost be flat b/c values after the catt should be stable and the same) and then the ECU would throw a code for a faulty Catalytic convertor and turn on the MIL .

Yep... it only has dictation over fuel control when the primary 02 fails.

As for the air temp sensor... I'd get that plugged back in, as the sensor helps to tell the ECU which timing and fuel calibration to use. If you don't have a place for it, plug it in, and place it in a cooler part of the engine bay.

hmm, plug it in somwhere cooler.. would it be a stupid idea to put it in front of the clutch fan?
