I just had the security system installed by BESTBUY. It turns out the CD player is not working now. The AM-FM radio/tape with compact disc player came with my 96 240sx.

It worked the day before the security system installed. I guess they miswire some thing, but they denied it. Thet claimed there were sth wrong with the CD player and suggest me to buy a new one!

The tape and AM-FM works well.

Any idea?

Thanks,

Tony

Is the CD player and the AM-FM radio/tape not in the same unit? I don't know why the CD player wouldn't have power but the radio would have power unless the CD player is broken. Ofcouse if it was working, then you gave it to them and then it is not working then i would say they broke it.

AM-FM/ TAPE are in the same unit. not CD player. They told me there are three wires connect to the CD player.

They couldn't figure out what wrong with it.

I guess some of the wires (to CD player) was disconnected. Is there any easy way to check it?

Thanks,

Tony

Just pull the CD player out and check if all the wires are connected. I don't know how you can get it out, I have a 1990 and i did it on that but i don;t know on the S14.

The guy in bestbuy pull the CD player out, and told me it was connected.

I may need check it by myself.

Is the broken CF player always like losing power, or at least show sth( such as the lcd light)?

I guess I have to check another end of the wires which connect to the CD player.

I guess you should just check all the wires and if they are all connected then the CD player is broken. Good luck.

sounds like when they were installing the alarm system..they did something messing with your power wire coming from the battery to the cd player..make sure it's not just hanging out loose in your engine bay..best buy has a way of forgetting to put back things that were on there already(power for my friends amp...they thought they had blown it..lol-)

i agree w/ 1991240sx. Nissan used to have bad cd players. I had a similar problem in my old altima, i had to press and hold the eject for like 10 seconds for it to eject. Like it was powering up. considering this got done at best buy its more likely than not that some highschool kid in a blue and yellow shirt ****ed up your wiring trying to put in your alarm.
