So im pretty disappointed with the coupes navigation.. the new mitsubishi navis in the 09+ are awesome.. let you watch dvds.. do anything you want while u drive. even have AV inputs to plug in ipod video, psp, anything.. and have the whole 10 gig music box.

theres no hacks out for our navis yet ( besides the terrible hack jobs where u need to create a switch ) but has anyone tried swapping it out for the new navigations that have the 9.3 gig music boxes with them.. and seeing if it works at all?

being able to store my cds would be an awesome plus, but i like the whole integrated blue tooth and voice activation so i dont wanna go after market

maybe eventually someone can hack it to play dvds or something

You shouldn't be watch a movie while driving....

On another note, there is no DVD decoder in the system, so you can't even play DVD's on it if you wanted to - the system was designed as a Navi system, not an entertainement system.

Unless you dump 1000's into the Music Box system, you're not going to get it - buying all the parts and then figuring out a way to fab stuff to get it to fit into the Altima is going to cost you a lot of time and money - not saying don't do it, but it would cost you a lot.

Yea, AV inputs would have been nice but like I said, there is no DVD decoder in the system, so watching anything on it won't go very far - it's not that high res of a screen either way...

these are all reasons to try out every aspect of a car before you buy it... not saying you would buy the mitsubishi over the A/C just for the navigation, but one should always know exactly what they are getting before they buy it... all of NIssan/Infiniti's navigation systems are not built the same... the navigation in the G37 and the 09 Muranois loads better than what's in the A/C.. complete with ipod jacks and all, but no DVD playback...

also, I'm not saying you're wrong, but not many car companies make dvd units that play while you are driving... that's a huge liability and is illegal in almost all states!!!! check your info on that... but whether or not the unit plays dvd's while ur driving... it still beats the hell out of the A/C factopry navigation system by far!!!!

i traded in my 09 lancer for the AC cuz i fell in love with it so i know that for a fact.

the only thing i liked about the lancer was the navi.. everything was wayyy smoother then the coupes navi. and it came with rockford subs in the truck oem.. which was a nice plus as well but ya..

oh well..guess theres nothing i can do about it now..wouldnt be worth throwing out the navi, 6 disc changer, and losing blue tooth capability just to replace the navi.

ps. in the lancers it didnt come stock that u could watch dvds while driving.. u have to go under 10mph to watch dvds.. but there was a simple dvd hack u stick into the player and it updates the firmware to let u watch dvds when ever you wanted.

but overall the altima is a much better car.

DVD hack.. gotcha, that sounds more like it...

regarding your current setup, naww, it wouldn't be worth it to rip everything out... as far as aftermarket units go, if ur into hard drives, then you could get the Pioneer Avic Z3... I think some of the newer pioneers may have hard drives also (F series) , but they aren't as nice...

kenwood is soon to releas their DNX-9140, which is a slightly more advanced version of the DNX-8120 that many of us have right now, and handsdown, this is the best all in one unit out there right now, aftermarket or factory!!! The only thing I miss from y stock A/C premium package setup is the ability to control bluetooth from the steering wheel, but other than that, definately a better deal than any factory navi stup out there!
