Disappointed by Nissan and Infiniti at the San Jose Auto Show ...

BECAUSE THEY WEREN'T THERE!

And, yes, I am yelling.

My son and I went around all over the place last weekend and couldn't find the Nissan and Infiniti section ... so we asked and discovered that they decided to cancel their presence at the last minute.

(We wanted to see the M37 and M56 ... were not expecting to see the Essence (would have been nice though) ... but no luck! Some years ago, we were pleasantly surprised by the presence of the GT-R as well. I will have to post those pictures sometime ...)

Excuse me? Cancel and not show up? What was Nissan Corporate thinking of?

With the exception of Porsche and Mercedes Benz (perennial no shows at the San Jose Auto Show - although a local dealer tends to bring those cars in), all the other major car vendors were present. Including cars by Lotus and Lamborghini and Ferrari. Heck, there was a special Ferrari section with older models (arranged by the Los Gatos Luxury Cars dealership by asking local owners to show their cars) ...

But Nissan and Infiniti were not there!

I did not go looking for them, so I am not certain about Kia. I did not check Subaru either, but I think they were there.

Hyundai, Honda, Acura (separate section from Honda), Toyota and Lexus (separate section from Toyota), and Mazda were all present.

So were all the American makes, VW and BMW and a few others like Land Rover, etc.

Only people missing were Nissan, Infiniti, Porsche and MB. The last two have always been represented in the past by a local high-end dealer though. This dealer also brought along lots of Ferraris (special show on old models from local owners), a couple of Bentleys, some Rolls Royce, an Aston Martin, and a Lotus.

Nissan and Infiniti were noticeable in their absence - I heard a number of people talking about it. On the maps, their section of the show was covered by a pasted over white paper blocking them out. Last minute no show!

In past years, the Nissan and Infiniti contingent was good - my son and I saw the GT-R there some years past, along with a NISMO 350Z and other Nissan models. This year, nada.

Apparently!

They have in the past though. And there are three Infiniti dealers in the area, along with a number of Nissan dealerships. So, sales are good for them in the area ... this was a strange misstep on their part.

yeah it was weird but they don't have a problem selling cars so no need to push their cars. not a real loss for them. not like we would be able to sit in a GTR anyways

did you go outside to the "classics/customs" area??

they had a ~10 car stable of nissans. 370, 350, few 240z's (one with a RB26) z32's and a R33... so they were present and IMO it's better to see a r33 and a few 240z's than ANY of their new cars ANY day of the week.

Yes! My son and I loved the Impala section. Lots of older models on display there ... in excellent restored condition!

We did see the bunch of Nissan's there. Definitely worth the visit to that section too.

However, we had wanted to check out the M37 and (maybe even) the M56 ... no such luck! I am going to write a stinky letter to Infiniti Corporate about this 'cause we are still mad about it.

Some one posted in the M forum that Nissan and Infiniti have missed other auto shows in other cities too. Is this true? Are people not seeing them in other cities either?

I cant recall if they were at the SF show ether. I dont remember seeing them at all.

I went to the Los Angeles Auto Show a month and a half ago, and Nissan and Infiniti were no-shows. I did read on cnet that the new M37 and M56 were showcased at the SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills during the same time as the show. Sad to say, I wasn't invited to that shindig! Also, Lamborghini and Ferrari weren't at the show as well.

Infiniti was also a no show at Philly, but Nissan was there. There was no visible factory participation. Their featured car was a GTR...again. Somewhat disappointing

Every other manufacturer was represented, even Kia.
