I took out the TCS Fuse from the relay box under the hood. It got rid of that 45 sec buzzing every time I start the car but the SLIP light is still on. Just a quick 1 sec buzz and shuts off.

How can I make the slip light go off? Its not really a big deal but I'd like it off.

Replace the TCS relay?

Difficult to tell what you are trying to accomplish.

I'm trying to disable the TCS system. Actually it already is disabled. The slip light stays on when the car is on. I would like to get rid of it.

If it doesn't work, wouldn't you like it to? It might be as easy as replacing 2 relays.

Why don't you use the console switch, then?

Look, I just don't like TCS, in any car. On top of that replacing the relays may fix it but TCS has been nothin but a pain. Merging in heavy traffic can cause it to activate at the wrong times. Also the car seems a wee bit smoother with that fuse out.

Just would like to get rid of the SLIP light... anything else I can do other than replacing the relays?

I'm curious. Why would "merging into traffic" activate the TCS? I am under the impression that the TCS is activated whenever one of the drive wheels is spinning faster than the other as in driving in snow, mud, **** and blood?

I am also curious how the TCS ABS computer decides weather one of the rear wheel is spinning or weather it is stopped as in brake locked? One of the rear wheels has to be doing something different (turning) than the other which causes the TCS/ABS to activate.

Both systems rely on the same signals picked up by TCS/ABS sensors, if I am understanding correctly how they work.

Jack.

PS. As far as I am concerned both the TCS and ABS are not an essential feature of car operation and should be an option, but...

It is not just that the 2 rear sensors are different but that the front and rear [average] is different.................the major problem is the rear brakes are not fully capable of stopping WOT engine thus the engine getts choked by the secondary throttle body to limit it's power.

Most TCS problems start from a lack of oem soft tires which create less than oem traction, activating TCS prematurely and way to frequently.

If your rear tire last longer than 15-20k they are too hard for system, since software assumes 15-20k tire life!

Maybe you need to read more and destroy less?

If you are going to convert it to non- TCS and rid the car of that equipment, then you will have toreplace a number of things, like the intake and ECU, and instrument cluster. Otherwise you will just be carrying around extra weight that is non-functional.

Yea removing the bulb seems the only way to go. I'll tackle that the next time I have to take the dash off.

Simple. Yet quite to the point.

Kiven422,

Doesn't your car have the TCS button in the centre console? They're all supposed to. For all the years I've had the '92 I've always just pushed the button to disable the TCS when I know I may use hard acceleration. This does illuminate the TCS OFF light, though.

Still, I gotta say, the TCS doesn't engage very often, usually in winter with skinny Pilot Alpins or on wet roads. Maybe Q45tech has a point for you regarding tires. I use wider, sticky summer tires for 9 months of the year.

Yea thats what I'll do just gonna be some work... I'll wait until the next time I take the dash off.

The thing is... My TCS only worked for the first 45 seconds I started the car. I think its cause my relays under the battery are bad. In other words TCS NEVER really worked in my car. When I start the car I can't disable it until it disables by itself after 45 seconds - 1 minute.

In that 45 seconds it would engage when I sped up a little too fast. My back tires have a lot of grip, they are bald right down to the marker and do not break lose very easy hehe
