The wheel bearings are designed to work with the correct offset, so the forces are balanced allowing decent component life.
Spacers always need to be precision hubcentric, so the wheels are centered avoiding balance problems.The extra thickness of spacer, difference in metal and non perfection [flatness to 0.0001"] creates a resistance to as designed heat transfer from the hub to the wheel/tire for brake cooling. Rust/corrosion is an insulator.
The wheels studs usually don't have excess length so depending on spacer thickness you can have errors there.
