disadvantages of wheel spacers

i got another noobie question... I know that its always the best to get the correct offset. But i found these volks for a really good price. The offset is probably above +40 since they came from and RSX. I am pretty sure i will need spacers for those. I am just wondering what are some disadvantages of having spacers? I tried search but i am still unsure...thanx in advance for the help!

The wheel bearings are designed to work with the correct offset, so the forces are balanced allowing decent component life.

Spacers always need to be precision hubcentric, so the wheels are centered avoiding balance problems.The extra thickness of spacer, difference in metal and non perfection [flatness to 0.0001"] creates a resistance to as designed heat transfer from the hub to the wheel/tire for brake cooling. Rust/corrosion is an insulator.

The wheels studs usually don't have excess length so depending on spacer thickness you can have errors there.

As always, Q45 Tech is spot on the money. As I emailed you earlier, stick with the correct offset and it will save you a lot of heartache down the road. The fit of a spacer has to be an exact match to the center bore of the wheel and on the hub to work safely. I would pass on these and get the correct offset. It's never a good deal when you have major vibration issues 200 miles later:(
