My car toped out at about 117 during a race with a 350z(ya, of course he beat me.. lol). I am sure it will do 120 and higher cause I had plently of RPM to do aty least a 130-140(I have heard the car does 140 on some fourms too).

I know there is a speed limiter on it. How can I go about disabling it the cheapest way?

Car is pretty much stock 5-spd in terms of performance Eventhough it does not look completely stock.

sick... I knew it was an easy one, I am not really all excited about a check engine light though. Has this been fixed? Is there anyway, I could wire a switch to that wire and just flick it when I wanna wanna go up to that speed?

The SE-trim models aren't limited. Sounds like you may have a GXE non-Security&Convenience package ECU in your car (or you have a GXE?)...

-- swap the ECU with a proper SE one should work too. I've had more than a dozen 4th gen SE's both manual and auto past the 112mph (actual) governor on the car on the dyno...

it's old school but IIRC the Techtom CMX-110 or MDM-100 (I think those are the part #s) monitoring devices can also tap into the ECU to bypass the speedlimiter, but I'm not sure that is supposed on the Maxima... I've only seen the MDM-100 used on B14 Sentra SE-R's. YMMV.

Are you sure the SE is not limted? Cause well it is an SE... duh... lol

but for some reason I was stepping on it in 5th gear and it was taking a long time to get past 117 I am not sure if it would do more or not if I kept it there but it seems like Fuel was cut...

I've personally had at least one 4th gen SE automatic and three 4th gen SE 5-speed well beyond 112mph on the back straight at Buttonwillow, some of these are the same ones I've had past that on the dyno.

Getting a 4th gen SE 5-speed past a buck-thirty is not hard, I can imagine getting it past a buck-forty is pretty painful due to the lack of high-end power, but you should easily be able to hit a buck-thirty.

Are you sure your car is healthy, and that it has the original SE ECU in it and not a base GXE ECU or something? Just wonderin'... since I really don't have too many other ideas.

How would it have a GXE ECU?

I mean I had my gas on, but I had it down quite a bit and it was going up, Maybe it was slowly going up but I could not tell in the rush of the moment cause right by 117 I felt it was not going anywhere...

I know for a fact the car is an SE based on the options (it being fully loaded) and White gauges and all. I know a lot about what trims come with what. And plus the title, Vin, and mon sticker says it.

ok, I will try it again. I probably had to much adren in me to tell and maybe I let off, It just felt like I had it to the ground and it going to slowy up from 117...

I do have an exhaust leak though... but not a power loss type...

I guess I would need to take a look into it, I do need to Tuneup this car and get the exhaust done...

IIRC 5th gen SE autos are limited to 130mph, I don't think 4th gen SE autos are limited. They may be drag limited to 138mph, though.

Hmm, time to see if I have any videos of my friend's `98 SE auto supercharged hitting past that with the 246whp he was making... Unfortunately the only other one I know of right now has a JWT ECU in it, so that's not a valid comparison. Quote » you sure cause i did get mine to 140 a[/quote]the speedo usually reads high, so 140mph indicated on the speedo is probably lower in reality.
