i know this is gonna sound stupid but due to not wanting to get my car damaged from airbags deploying due to hard launching......is there anyway to disable'em for a certain amount of time?(like disconnecting a cable or something?) i'll be going to the race track soon and have a 2 step setup(aem ems), probably be launching at 3k or so rpm's and well....i've heard of airbags deploying cause of hard launches.

i'll be using dr's, not full drag slicks....tho i know that wont be as hard launch i'd still like to know...someone else totalled their car cause of that.

I don't think you will deploy an airbag with a 10.2 1/8 mile car on Drag radials.

You would need some serious traction for that.

sorry its my friends car, he's got an S14 ka-t with a T3/T61, running ~15psi, built engine.

my S13 ain't got airbags:).

someone on ka-t.org popped his airbags launching @ 3k or so with slicks and around 12psi on same setup. messed up the windshield, trans, and deployed the airbags.

here's his setup

zerothread?id=360284 <<cept we upgraded the injectors to precision 120lbs.

You are correct my friend! go thru the motions like your trying to take the steering wheel off and unhook the wire going to the air bag or have him run into you car at say.. 10-15mph. His airbag will never go off again:)

You could D/C the fuse....

Or D/C the control unit with the power off.

There is probably 100 different ways to do this man, just check your FSM to figure out what you wana do.

I'd go with the fuse method.

Just disconnect the battery and under the back seat is airbag control. Also I think under the center console there is a plug. I disconnected mine without any issues. I just have the annoying airbag light on in the cluster.

Buy an aftermarket steering wheel, eliminates dr airbag, and disconnect the pass bag. Easy as that.
