Disabling the SRS is illegal...however the part in question here is simply a module that tells the computer that the airbag hasn't been deployed. It has no affect on whether or not the airbag deploys. If the airbag light is blinking the air bag will still deploy.loystock wrote:The Supplemental Restraint System (SRS, air bag) is a safety item and tampering with it could be illegal. You could also have problem with your insurance company if you're involved in an accident and they found out you have an inoperative SRS.

no, the fact that the light is blinking means that the system has been deactivated. It detected a faulty wiring in the harness and then shut the system off to prevent accidental deployment. It costs $280 + labor to replace the damn piece that has malfunctioned. I'm not tampering with the system at all, I want to know if there is anything that indicates the SRS error other than the flashing AIR BAG dash light.rxm6 wrote:

Personally I hope to never get in an accident in my car because I hate airbags. I really think they are cheap alternative to safety. Real safety is a 5 point harness and a roll-cage.
Where do you live that the part costs $280? I went down to my local Infiniti dealership and they gave me a price of $600. Could this be including labor? Because I asked for just the part price.I30T wrote:no, the fact that the light is blinking means that the system has been deactivated.
