I know you can temproarily disable the warning by hitting the button by your left knee....but is there a way to permanently disable the warning?

if you block the camera that "measures" this it should stop it. The camera is by the rearview mirror. That is the ghetto way at least.

Your insurance policy is calculated based on safety items installed on vehicle. Careful about intentionally disabling them as you could be committing insurance fraud. Check with your insurance company.

i see what you are saying, but if that were that case then why would they make it a button on/off (which I don't understand why the first person doesn't just push the button and leave it be, but to each their own)

Constantly amazed by the number of people who do not read the manual. Read the manual, its in there.

Mine is just the opposite. It is off unless I hit the button to turn it on. I actually would like it to be on all the time unless I turn it off. I just got it today so I will be reading the manual tonight
