Does anyone know if there is a way to disable the trunk opening by using the key fob? On numerous occasions I have come out to my car and noticed the trunk popped open. I keep my keys in my pocket most of the time and somehow the trunk release button is being pressed and held down, either by other keys in my pocket or from sitting down, who knows. What bothers me is that I sometimes keep my laptop in the trunk and do not want it to get stolen.

Welcome to NICO. I believe there is a button in the glove box (made to prevent valet access) that will disable the trunk release.

I can't say that this would completely solve your problem, but it may be worth trying.

there are 3 options

1. Trunk release override switch in the glovebox

2.

3. Take the button out of the key fob underneath the rubber part

i know i'm not very helpful

Go on ebay and buy a keyfob silicone sleeve. That just will give you enough space it won't happen to you again. It cost you probably less then $10.

Thanks for the tips, think I might try out the key fob sleeve and see if that helps.

I have seen the advice about the switch in the glovebox, and about removing the power connector and using the key. My 2014 Sentra SV has no switch in the glovebox, no mention of a switch in the manual, and no keyhole in the trunk area itself. I post this in case someone else with a 2014 Sentra SV comes across this thread, and then questions their own sanity.
