Today is the 3rd time we have experienced either stolen sensors or broken sensors. They either go bad, get stolen or just seem to mysteriously work then not work, then work. I really don't see any advantages at this point. At $25~ a piece I'm much more content with checking the tire pressure every fill up and re-threading the lame black valve cover on. I know TPMS is mandatory because car owners are apparently too dumb to maintain their 3000lb rolling weapons.

The car is question is a 2008 Nissan Rogue SL AWD

I tried searching but to no avail

Stolen?..........
Sorry, I can't help this time, I have no knowledge of the tmps.
Probably go to Nissan and have them delete the code. In the manual it says something about flashing your lights 3 times for the murano, but I think that's to reset it.

I don't think its possible to steal the TPMS sensor without you not notice it because it is mounted inside the tire(correct me if I am wrong)
It is possible that your tire pressure has drop due to the temperature differences (possibly a cold day)
(Try putting 35 psi into each tires before starting the car in the morning, the light should turn off after driving for a while, and check the pressure the next day morning to see if there is a leak)
Did you go to the dealer to check the sensor? Or did you change to the spare tire? cause it doesn't have the sensor included

If you are 200% (cause tire pressure is important) sure that your tire pressure is right and no leak or anything, and you don't want to see the TPMS warning light, a black electric tape will do the job(cover the light)

There really isn't a lot of option with the TPMS system - I too agree that it offers minimal value and the costs associated with replacing sensors, and annoyances of false negative readings make it quite annoying. Regarding stolen sensors, I'm not exactly what you are suggesting but the only way to gain access that I know of is to remove the tire.

Also the TPMS system is not mandatory, at least not where I live in Alberta. We just purchased a new Kia Sorento for my wife and it does not have a TPMS system - I'm thankful for the Koreans good judgement! For my 08 Rogue TPMS, the sensors are still all functioning but if and when they start to give me trouble I'll likely use a piece of tape to cover the warning light and call it good rather than spending a few hundred bucks to replace sensors.

TPMS is mandatory in the USA as per FMVSS #138. Tampering with or removing the TPMS warning light is an offence which could result in a fine. I doubt any shop would disable it and risk getting fined. You might also find it difficult to find a shop that will remove the TPMS sensors for the same reason.

We can thank the Ford Explorer and Firestone tire issues of the early 2000's for the troublesome TPMS system we ended up with. :tisk: It seems some mfg's have gotten a better grasp of it than others. That being said, the TPMS sensors on my Rogue have been trouble free.
