Ok, I have yet to buy the clear corners and switchback LEDs, but until then is there a way to disable the ambers while the headlights are on? I'm aware of the foglight mod, but that's not what I want. I think the ambers kill the look of my headlights. I'm going for a look a lot of cars have and I don't understand why the parkers need to be on while the headlights are on. Can anyone help?

Will there be a complication with the rear lights if I try to disable the parking lights w/ headlights on? I don't want to compromise my safety from the rear.

Hope I was clear enough.

On a related note, my Pathy's ambers are NOT on when the headlights are on. I just got it that way.

At least on an '01, the tail lights and the front parking lights are controlled by the same relay.

Do check the legalities. They will vary from jurisdiction to jurisdiction.

The parking lights are run with the head lights so that if a headlight goes out, oncoming traffic can tell that you aren't a motorcycle.

You have a Canadian pathy right? I think most euro cars have this "feature" disabled.

Chris.m , can you please post an upclose shot of your headlight assembly? I wanna see how the clear corners look. I'm considering a pair because I'm still a bit nervous about switchback leds. Do you have stealth bulbs in there or the regular ambers?

I just have regular ambers in there now, I got the first set from dealer for like $9.

The next time when I went back for a replacement bulb after my accident, the parts guys handed me a shoebox full of misc. bulbs and said to find it myself.

Then he gave the bulb to me for free because he couldn't find a part number. :rotfl

Good 'ol Nissan

Its dark now but in the morning I'll post up a pic of the corner.

Do the stock/OEM bulbs have amber lenses, or are they just plain white? Wouldn't amber bulbs be brighter since more light passes through the amber housing? If so, amber glass bulbs are desirable. I'm looking to replace my passenger sidemarker bulb since it's significantly dimmer than the driver's side. The part # for the OEM bulb is [26110D] BULB, no picture is provided. That's looking under the "262 Side Marker Lamp" section - if looking under "261 Front Combination Lamp" it's [26120A] BULB and it looks like a normal 7443 bulb (clear glass).

OEM are just plain white, thats why finding amber ones was a challenge - and also surprising to find them at Nissan.

I don't really follow that.

Wouldn't each "tint" of orange be reducing the intesity (brightness) just a bit just like tint on a window?

Following that, a clear bulb (no tint) in an orange housing (tint) would be more intense than an orange bulb (tint) in an orange housing (tint).

I was going to google a scientific explanation, but I gave up after seeing the character for lambda :rotflmao

I dunno. I found that with LEDs in the instrument cluster, matching the bulb color to the lens (i.e. the oil pressure warning lamp is red - buy a red LED bulb) resulted in correct and brighter color output. Otherwise, white LED in a red position resulted in pink:

However, I am unsure whether the same concept applies to white incandescent bulbs through a colored lens and if matching the bulb's glass color to the lens would result in "brighter" output.

I think the only way to control the front parking lights independently of the tail lights and license plate lights is to run a relay setup with the front parking lights switched. You'd need to disconnect the parking light wires from the circuit and run new wire, as well as a switch into the cabin. I might be wrong here, though.
