Is it possible to disable the forward crash protection feature (auto-braking feature)?

I have a 2017 Q70S 5.6 that experiences acceleration hesitation when in traffic.

When I use the paddle shifters, it runs like a champ.

I took it to the dealership and they explained that the vehicle operates as designed.

The forward crash protection (auto-braking) apparently causes acceleration delays while assessing conditions.

I tried ordering a pedal commander, but unfortunately, these after-market pedal controllers don't work on vehicles with forward crash protection.

I've not heard this situation before. My Q70 will 'pause' very briefly when I'm too close to the vehicle in front of me. I suspect that you cannot disable just one of the crash protections - it's likely that multiple features share at least one module in common and interfering with one system could damage or cancel other systems as well. Of course it's also possible that the typical dealership technicians are trained to run a basic diagnostic and don't possess the necessary skills to delve deep enough to know where to look.

To my knowledge there's no way to disable the FEB other than disabling the front radar. You can mask the radar with tinfoil and put up with the "radar blocked" warnings, but that also disables your smart cruise. The "warnings off" button only disables the LDW/BSW, not FEB, and the FSM doesn't show any options in the ADAS Controller to selectively kill functions. They either all work or nothing does.

If it helps, Sprint Booster makes a module that works with the intelligent cruise control system

are you sure this is the forward collision system? I have the feature in my 3.7 and i have no noticeable hesitation. What do you mean exactly by hesitation? Note that using paddle shifters doesnt disable the auto braking so i'd guess it's just the transmission being a slow-poke as intended when at low throttle. Is it the same feeling if youre on sport mode (in the round dial)

tried to do the learned behaviour reset?
tried cleaning your throttle body, doing a throttle relearn -idle air relearn?

Thank you for the Sprint Booster recommendation. I've ordered one and will report back.

To better describe the problem, the worst hesitation is at speeds of 30-40mph while driving in traffic. If I'm in a slower lane of traffic and need to quickly adjust my speed to match and merge into another lane, my car hesitates for a few seconds when I hit the accelerator. I can literally count from 1 to 4 while it considers the response. There is zero pedal response while it assesses conditions and deems it safe to change the engine speed. If I were to pull into faster traffic and hit the accelerator, it would be a major safety hazard. I call it press the accelerator and pray condition.

If I change to paddle shifter mode, it runs like a racecar and is very responsive. Again, I've had the dealership diagnose the problem and the car operates per Infiniti design. I'm surprised there hasn't been a safety recall for this problem.

I love the car but this feature has removed the joy of ownership. :frown:

Oh yeah, baby...the Sprint Booster released the Kraken.

Level 9 gives you whiplash. :ohno:

Level 5 is a nice responsive drive.
