This isn't my idea and I know it's not recommended, but does anyone know how to disable the knock sensors so that the check engine light doesn't come on in a 94 Q45? I need a quick answer if possible I did search but couldn't find the answer. I've read about someone doing it before but I wasn't really paying attention back then.

If the MIL is coming on for the knock sensors there might be something wrong with the harness. Worn out knock sensors don't usually set off the MIL.

In 15 years of Q ownership I've never seen my MIL [check engine light on ] except at start up.

They are really insensitive to all but critical failures.

Yeah my old boss has a 94 Q that he's trying to sell and the code came up. One of the sensors aren't working, so he's trying to "hot wire" the connector (I think) so that the computer thinks they're both working. How stupid can you be

I dont really see how you could do that and make it work right...... I dont really know how the signals work... The KS code wont throw a CEL (other things are wrong, maybe an o2 sensor?)..... When I replaced only 1 o2 sensor it threw a CEL sometimes because the banks were so different.....

Somehow he got it to work and sold the car to some poor guy that's gonna have problems with this down the road. Disabling them is one thing, but hotwiring them to fool the ECM is asking for trouble. Bad bad karma
