'06 M35 liq plat. washed at tunnel car wash only...never hand washed (I'm ashamed). One time thru a new tunnel and the wheels are streked in black. It will not polish off. The car wash is going to refinish them, I think...but, I noticed a new liq plat M at the dealer with black streaks on the wheels...not as bad as mine....but noticeable,,,Is this an Infiniti problem??? The dealer says "car wash" problem.

Unfortunately, I have never heard of this problem ... anybody else have this difficulty?

Dilute some "Orange Clean" and spray it on. I have used it to even remove the "yellow/orange" tinge that you sometimes get from neglecting aluminum/alloy wheels. Takes the crap right off, and if you dilute it accordingly, won't damage the wheel itself.

a local refinisher is taking care of my wheels. He will strip and re-paint them. He says he's done several sets on M's as well as particular BMW and Mercedes wheels. cause?? he says too much acid in the mix at the car wash...these wheels are sensitive to it and it makes black streaks on the paint...not removable. Needless to say, Infiniti does not reccomend or endorse acid on the rims...no coverage..

...fortunately, the car wash owner has accepted responsibility, and is paying the refinisher. Any of you who use car washes, check your wheels BEFORE leaving the car wash!

my wheels kinda discolored more like someone scrubbed it to hard and it is down to the black stuff behind the silver?? I am the second owner....so i tried to polish it out with some alloy wheel cleaner polisher and it started coming off more, so i left alone and i am in search of aftermarket wheels anyway
