Hello all,

Brand new to the forums here. I have been finding out so much information here and it's great!

I have some black stains on my stock rims (2004 G35 6mt) they seem to be pretty deep, and the typical de-greaser and scrubbing does not seem to make anything better.

If anyone knows of a good method for cleaning this type of stain please let me know. I could also provide pictures if that would help at all.

While I am at it, if anyone could tell me what type of finish is on the stock performance rims... I'd like to get some polish and I want to know what kind they are (aluminum, painted, chrome, etc.)

Thanks in advance,

-David

Welcome to NICO!

Unfortunately, the 03-04 G35 has an issue with brake dust on the rims. To help reduce the affect, use a good wax on the wheels.

If you can't get the rims clean with regular car wash, use only harsh chemicals that won't ruin your wheels finish. Most car stores sell specific chemicals for multiple wheel finishes. For really bad stains, try and use a cleaner that is really thick and will foam up. I've had to do this for pieces of tar on the inside of my rims...bug and tar remover will work sometimes.

A last resort would be brake/engine cleaner....but be careful, this could ruin your rim's finish. Try it out on a small area first.
