Indeed. For anybody that questions whether or not to get an alarm, get one. My Alpine alarm saved my stuff. These guys broke my passenger side window, and tried to pry out the cd player from the outside. My auto-seatbelts had not retracted, so these guys did not even try to get in the car. As to my $700 Clarion DRX9675z headunit, it is now back to normal. The motorized mechanism that moves the faceplate on it was built so well that even after the thiefs tried to pry the cd player out of the dash, it still was intact. By the way, they jammed their screwdrivers in there so hard that the factory mounting bracket was bent sideways. After moving back the metal casing around the motorized mechanism (the casing was in the way of the mechanism) it was all fixed. My dash had a custom ABS plastic kit that I built around the cd player to fit flush and it is done for, but hey... it could be worse.
There were 6 other cars out of 24 in my lot that all had their cd players stolen. Mine was the only one with an alarm and the only one that still has a cd player.
As of 11am, 32 cars in West Lafayette had been reported broken into according to the West Lafayette Police.
I'm leaving my cd player out until I get my new window. My window right now consists of duct tape and Dominos Pizza boxes. haha
